Boron Deficiency
Boron deficiency is one of the most widespread micronutrient deficiencies worldwide. It affects particularly meristematic regions of plants, ultimately leading to major yield losses in many crops, including maize. The underlying molecular causes are only rudimentary understood. To elucidate primary functions of boron, we characterize developmental defects in boron transporter mutants and those induced by the chemical phenylboronic acid (PBA).
