Peng Yu completed his PhD in Plant Nutrition at China Agricultural University in 2016. During his PhD program (2013-2015) and afterwards as a postdoc (2016-2020) he worked in the Crop Functional Genomics group of Prof. Frank Hochholdinger at the University of Bonn. Since 2021, he led an independent Emmy Noether research group funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Institute of Crop Science and Resource Conservation (INRES) at the University of Bonn. In October 2024, Peng Yu was appointed professor for Plant Genetics at the TU Munich School of Life Sciences.
In Munich Prof. Yu´s research will focus on the genetic basis and environmental regulation of the formation and function of the root system and its biotic interaction with the soil microbiome in plants, especially the adaptive behavior of root and rhizosphere functions during crop evolution and domestication.
