P3: Genetic Control and Nutrient-dependency of Root-microbe Interaction in Maize
Cross-kingdom interplay between crops and microbes at the root-soil interface for structuring rhizosphere-associated microbial communities and their potential impacts on nutrient acquisition remain elusive. This project aims to obtain a mechanistic understanding of the interplay of genetic control and soil nutrient availability in root-microbe interaction. We will integrate multi-omics data from different root tissues and metabolome profiling together with non-invasive imaging techniques by application of genetically diverse inbred lines and root mutants under different soil nutrient conditions in maize.
